He has done Post Graduate from Leeds University, U.K. He has vast knowledge in the Textile Sector in the country. He is the Chairman and Director of Malek Spinning Mills PLC. A Matin Chowdhury
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury is a Sponsor Director of the Company since 1989. He is a renowned and dynamic personality in the Textile Sector of Bangladesh. After his active participation in the liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, he voluntarily retired from the Bangladesh Army as a Major. He entered into the family business with his brother late Mr. A. Malek Chowdhury into Graphics Limited, a company that pioneered printing, office equipment and other technology equipment. In the last many years, he moved from indenting to the manufacturing and is currently the Managing Director of Malek Spinning Mills PLC., Salek Textile Ltd, Knit Asia Ltd, Hejaz Publications Ltd, Design Asia Ltd, New Asia Ltd., Aurum Sweater Ltd. and the Chairman of J.M. Fabrics Ltd. and New Asia Synthetics Ltd. He is also the Sponsor Director of Rahim Textile Mills Limited, a listed company and Director of Fatehbagh Tea Co. Ltd. He is the former Chairman of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Under Privileged Children’s Programs (UCEP) and Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT). He is also involved with many other non-profit organizations including Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (DAB) as a Member of the National Council, Founder Trustee of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), Founder Member, Board of Governors of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI), Board Member of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) and many other voluntary organizations. He has more than 49 (forty nine) years’ experience in the textile sector.

Dr. Shamim Matin Chowdhury is a Director of the Company since 1991. She has more than 38 (thirty-eight) years’ experiences in the textile sector. She completed M.B.B.S from Dhaka Medical College and postgraduate studies from the U.K. Dr. Chowdhury is a famous Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She is the former Chief Consultant of Pabna Mental Hospital. She is also the Chairperson of Special Olympics in Bangladesh. She is the Director of Rahim Textile Mills Limited (listed company), Salek Textile Limited, Knit Asia Limited, J.M. Mr. Azizur Rahim Chowdhury is a Director of the Company since 2004, son of Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury. He obtained graduation from Purdue University in the U.S.A. with a major in Computer Science and Business Management. He has more than 16 (sixteen) years working experience in the textile sector. Ms. Saima Matin Chowdhury is a Director of the Company since 2007, daughter of Mr. A. Matin Chowdhury. She is a bright young executive having High School graduation from Concord Academy, Concord, Massachusetts, USAB.Sc. from Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, USA and MBA from Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania USA. She has work experience in the Unites States with Ernst & Young and Victoria’s Secret. She has more than 12 (Twelve) years working experience in the textile sector. Muhammad Abul Hossain

Mr. Muhammad Abul Hossain appointed as Independent Director of the company (non-shareholding) for a period of 3 (three) years with effect from 27-01-2022 in place of Mr. Sultan Ahmed FCA after completion of his tenure. He has also been appointed as Chairman of the Audit Committee of Malek Spinning Mills PLC. Limited. Dr. Sultan Hafeez Rahman

The Board also appointed Dr. Sultan Hafeez Rahman, as Independent Director for a period of three (3) years with effect from 23-07-2019. Dr. Rahman is a enowned economist and former Director General of Asian Development Bank (ADB), South Asia and a Senior Research Fellow of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). He was also Adviser/consultant to the Ministries of Jute, Industry, Commerce and Finance and Planning of Govt. of Bangladesh. He also served as Member of the Board of Director of Agrani Bank from 1988-91. He is a respected economist and has published on a wide range of economic issues. He obtained Ph.D. and M A degrees from Stanford University and M A in economics from Vanderbilt University.

Mr. Mahir Rahman has been appointed as a Nominated Director of the company in place of Mr. Moshiur Rahman. He is selected as representative of Paragon Poultry Limited and aside this, the Board also appointed him as a member of Audit Committee and Nomination & Remuneration Committee (NRC) of the company. Mahir Rahman is a bright young executive upon finishing his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science at University of British Columbia, Canada. He has cultivated years of experience in his programming journey and has developed many complex applications, many related to artificial intelligence for business side technology. He has a good foundation of business/marketing through his courses as well as years of experience under his father’s purview.
